The type number is a performance class
IS 15477:2019 groups cementitious and reaction-resin tile adhesives into types. In the CRIC range the documented types run from Type 1T on CT-01 through Type 5T S2 on PU Adhesive. A higher type is specified where the tile, the weight or the exposure asks for more from the adhesive.
The “T” attached to these types indicates slip resistance, which matters when tile is fixed on a wall and must stay where it is placed.
How the CRIC range is documented
CT-01 is Type 1T for internal floors and walls and for tile sizes such as 300×600, 300×450 and 600×600. CT-02 and CT-02 Prime are Type 2T, with CT-02 Prime aimed at larger formats and natural stone cladding. CT-03 is Type 3T and CT-04 is Type 4T, both listed for 1200 mm formats and heavy exterior work. PU Adhesive is Type 5T S2.
Use the type together with the stated application. A Type 4T product is not automatically the right answer for a small internal ceramic floor, and a Type 1T product is not documented for a 1200×2400 mm elevation.
Confirm before you specify
Type numbers summarise a standard. Substrate, bed thickness, open time and movement joints still sit outside that shorthand. Read the product technical data, and ask the CRIC team if the application is not clearly inside the catalogue description.
